Ex Hex / Sheer Mag @ LPR 4/23/2015
Ex Hex, the strutty, glammy trio fronted by indie rock vet Mary Timony, made their way through town again, playing WFMU’s Monty Hall earlier in the week and Le Poisson Rouge last night (4/23). For fans of their style of late-’70s riffy powerpop, the LPR show also featured Philly band Sheer Mag who have been whipping crowds into a frenzy of late and whose second EP is hot off the presses. Ex Hex will be back in town during Northside, playing Music Hall of Williamsburg on June 12. Openers still haven’t been announced but tickets are still available (you can get in with a Northside badge too).
It was a full bill last night, with MGMT-related Kuroma who have a new album as well, and opening the night was Roya which features members of Habibi, The Clean and Grooms plus new bassist Alix Brown (of Golden Triangle). Pics of them at LPR, plus more of Ex Hex and Sheer Mag, are below…
