Ex Hex, the current band fronted by ex-Helium, Autoclave and Wild Flag member Mary Timony, brought their ongoing tour to NYC yesterday (7/17) to play MoMA’s MoMA Nights series which puts an artist in the museum’s outdoor courtyard every Thursday evening in July and August. The band recently announced their debut album, Rips (due out 10/7 via Merge), and played plenty of that as well as a cover of Sweeney Todd/Nick Glider’s glam classic “Roxy Roller.” Pictures of the show are in this post.

Ex Hex will return to NYC when their tour with Speedy Ortiz hits Glasslands on November 1 with Aye Nako and Mercury Lounge on 11/2. Tickets to Glasslands and Merc are still available.

Ex Hex bassist Betsy Wright is also a member of Chain & the Gang whose tour with Ed Schrader’s Music Beat hits NYC later this month at Baby’s All Right (7/29) (tickets).
