New Orleans sludge masters Eyehategod announced yesterday that Aaron Hill of New Orleans bands Missing Monuments and Mountain of Wizard will be the drummer for Eyehategod going forward, including a date at Saint Vitus on November 14 with Mutilation Rites and The Communion (tickets). The question of a permanent drummer has been in the air since the death of original Eyehategod drummer Joey LaCaze in August. Dale Crover of Melvins filled in this past weekend during Eyehategod’s Joey Lacaze tribute set at the Housecore Horror Film Festival in Austin. Check out Eyehategod’s scheduled tour dates below, and look for additional dates in the coming weeks.

The four-day Housecore Fest (10/24 – 10/27) was hosted by Phil Anselmo and featured a stacked line-up, including Melvins, Gwar, Pallbearer, Goblin (performing their score to Suspira in full), Down and many more. You can check out pics from day 2 and days 3 & 4 over on BV Austin. IO sent guest writer David Hall down to the fest, and you can check out his two part review and additional photos on Invisible Oranges.
