Portland, Maine’s Falls of Rauros are streaming “Waxen Voices” off of their forthcoming album Believe In No Coming Shore. The song debuted over at Invisible Oranges, and you can give it a listen below. It’s a fantastic track, a near perfect blend of black metal and folk elements that makes for some of the best atmospheric black metal of the year. Here’s a bit of what we had to say about it over at IO:

An almost painfully pretty instrumental intro sets an organic melancholy vibe, and when it kicks into high gear (love that hot solo that hits off at 2:52) it’s Falls at their best, delivering an invigorating, perhaps flawless blend of black metal and folk. For an eleven-minute song that covers some ground, “Waxen Voices” never loses any momentum–it’s a thrill from start to finish.

It’s definitely 10/10, A+.

As a reminder, Invisible Oranges and Signature Riff are presenting Falls of Rauros with the criminally underrated black metal band Obsidian Tongue and metal one-man wizard Oneirogen at Union Pool tomorrow, Wednesday the 27th. Tickets are 8 bucks at the door.
