Father John Misty launches not-serious "SAP" streaming service for new LP (listen +++ updated dates)

As mentioned, Father John Misty is set to release his new album, I Love You Honeybear, on February 10 via Sub Pop. Anyone who has seen him live knows that Josh Tillman (who is FJM) is part comedian, which may explain the press release today where he claims to have launched a new streaming service, Streamline Audio Protocol (SAP):

Hello! As an artist, it has been thrilling to see how a decade or so of increasingly free music on the internet has facilitated a veritable anarchic consumer utopia for fans of sharing, rating, discovering and music. Within the last year or so, I started to ask myself a question: We all know free is great for the fans, but how can we extend this freedom to artists as well? Is there a way to ensure that no one, artist or fan, ever has to spend, or lose, any money on music ever?

He goes on to explain how SAP works:

…popular albums are “sapped” of their performances, original vocal, atmosphere and other distracting affectations so the consumer can decide quickly and efficiently whether they like a musical composition, based strictly on its formal attributes, enough to spend money on it.

The first (last? only?) use of SAP technology is a stream of I Love You Honeybear which, turns the songs into quasi midi/chiptune versions, with rinkydink keyboard lines instead of vocals. You can stream it over at FJM’s website.
