Feathers working on new EP, list their favorite LPs of 2013, playing NYC before European tour w/ Depeche Mode (dates)
Austin’s Feathers have had a busy year. They released their debut album, If All Here Now, have toured the country (they played NYC in May) and opened for Depeche Mode during SXSW. 2014 looks to be exciting for them as well, with a new EP, Only One, and a trip across the Atlantic next month where they’ll be opening up for Depeche Mode again, this time on a few European dates. On their way there, they’ll stop in NYC for a warm-up show, playing Mercury Lounge on January 7. Tickets for that show are on sale now.
This tour will mark a new line-up for the band, with Christine Aprile (ex-Sleep Over, Silent Diane), Su Swann (Hussle Club), Jon Minor and Destiny Montague (Midnight Masses, Carl Sagan). All tour dates are listed below.
Feathers frontperson Anastasia Dimou was nice enough to give us her Top 10 Records of 2013, including commentary on some of them. Her list doesn’t stray to far from the style of music she makes, which means if you like Feathers, you may want to check some of these out. Read her list below….
Feathers’ Anastasia Dimou’s Top 10 Records of 2012
In no order:
Autre Ne Veut – Anxiety
Fielded – Nine Thirty Thirty
How To Destroy Angels – Welcome Oblivion, and listening to it on tour, night-driving through the desert. I was able to see them at Coachella and it was mesmerizing.
Blouse – Imperium, and the stillness of every venue on our tour with them, when Charlie Hilton sang “Trust Me.”
Factory Floor – Factory Floor
Soft Metals – Lenses
Still Corners – Strange Pleasures. Listened to this on repeat while driving along the northern California coast.
Depeche Mode – Delta Machine
Kirin J Callinan – Embracism, and negotiating with him in a solo auction for his last piece of merch: a dishtowel with an image of his barechested body and what seems to be an industrial vacuum.
Frankie Rose – Herein Wild. “Street of Dreams” is excellent. Also looking forward to Drew Citron’s project, Beverly.
–Rangelklods – Beekeeper. This is technically a 2012 release, but I only discovered it early this year.
–SISU– Light Eyes, EP… Only because I haven’t spent time with the full length yet.
