Fenster share “Like a River” video from new LP, touring North America this month
Berlin based band Fenster released their terrific album The Room back in September. The title is a reference to the recording process of the record: they composed and arranged the songs together in one room, and the album was tracked live in a house where all four members ate, slept, and played together. Here’s a bit from my Indie Basement review:
The group have always used electronics in a very organic way — part krautrock, part folk pop — but The Room feels more alive, with songs melting into the next. The synthesizers are what really, like the Dude’s rug, tie The Room together. They sound otherworldly, mysterious and inviting, like sounds the BBC Radiophonic Workshop created in the ‘70s and early ‘80s. It’s the thread between songs like the gorgeous, soft-rock sound of the album’s title track, to the clinical krautrock vibe of “HBW” and “Feel Better,” to the laid-back and lightly funky “Groovin’ with The Eternal Now,” to the quirky pop of “Haha LOL” and the album’s delicate, crystalline closer, “Two Doors.”
If you haven’t checked out The Room yet, you can stream it below. We’ve also got the premiere of the video for “Like A River,” which matches the song’s dreamy, float-along vibe. Watch that below as well.
Fenster will be on tour in North America starting next week, and includes two NYC shows: Trans-Pecos on November 10 and Alphaville on November 19 which is with the Greg Fox Trio and Erica Eso. Tickets for both those shows are on sale, and the tour also hits Philadelphia, Toronto, Ottowa, Montreal, and more. All dates are listed below.
