Bedroom folk artist Field Medic released his very solid Songs From the Sunroom on Run For Cover last year, and today he released a new single, “Let Freedom Ring 2.” It’s a Dylanesque protest song, and here’s some more background on it via press release:

Written in the wake of the white nationalist marches in Charlottesville and the events that unfolded in their aftermath, “Let Freedom Ring 2” reflects on the emboldening of open hatred in today’s social conversation. “The fact that white nationalists felt energized and justified in spreading hatred, and the president not even condemning them…” says Kevin Patrick who performs as Field Medic. “It’s scary to think about the increasingly bitter divisions between people in our country.”

As mentioned, Field Medic and HEALTH are both opening for pop rock band The Neighbourhood on tour, and Field Medic is also playing some headlining shows while he’s on the road. One of the headlining shows happens at NYC’s Mercury Lounge on June 14 with Derek Ted. Tickets for that show are on Citi presale now and the public on-sale begins Friday (4/4) at noon.
