Filthy Friends (Corin Tucker, Peter Buck, etc) announce debut LP, share new song

Filthy Friends

Corin Tucker (Sleater-Kinney) and Peter Buck‘s (R.E.M.) new band Filthy Friends have announced their debut album. It’s called Invitation and it comes out on August 25 via Kill Rock Stars. The announcement is accompanied by the release of new single “The Arrival,” which has Corin sounding as fired-up as she does in Sleater-Kinney. It’s pretty great stuff, and you can hear it for yourself below.

The band — which also includes Buck’s Minus 5 bandmate (and Young Fresh Fellows founder) Scott McCaughey, R.E.M. contributor (and current King Crimson member) Bill Rieflin, and Fastbacks member/MInus 5 contributor Kurt Bloch (and occasionally Nirvana’s Kirst Novoselic) — recently announced live shows, including one in Brooklyn. That happens at The Bell House on September 6 (it was initially announced for 8/29), and since we last spoke, indie vets Versus were added to the bill (tickets). Updated dates are listed below.

In addition to “The Arrival,” the album includes previously-released singles “Any Kind of Crowd” and “Despierata.” Pre-order the album here and check out the artwork below.
