Helsinki, Finland duo Shine 2009 will release their second album, Our Nation, on October 15 via Cascine in North America and Modular in the rest of the world. The record skirts the line between indie pop and dance music, a tightrope act that Scandinavians seem particularly adept at. The late-’90s/early-00s seem to be of particular inspiration here, to my ears at least, drawing from things like Kruder & Dorfmeister’s K&D Sessions, jungle breakbeats, and effervescent, acoustic-y Swedish pop. It’s a terrific LP. If you liked that Kings of Convenience remix album, Versus, UK act Bent or Swedish outfit The Embassy you should check out the album’s two released singles, “Eurozone” and “Older,” below. (You should check them out even if not, too.) You can also stream CFCF’s remix of “Eurozone” which basically turns it into a Stereo MCs song. That’s below as well.

Shine 2009 will be in NYC next month for CMJ. No specific shows have been announced yet, but dates will surface once we get closer to the fest.
