FKA twigs Cellophane

FKA twigs is back with first new song in three years, "Cellophane"

FKA twigs is finally, officially back. She’s been announcing shows this year, including NYC’s Red Bull Music Festival and Afropunk Brooklyn, and now she finally released her first proper single in three years. It’s called “Cellophane,” and it’s a fine example of her atmospheric pop that should appeal to fans of her previous work but isn’t a repeat of anything she’s done before. The song was written and produced by FKA twigs with Jeff Kleinman and Michael Uzowuru, and the video was directed by Andrew Thomas Huang, who also did Bjork’s Vulnicura. Twigs says:

When I wrote “Cellophane” over a year ago a visual narrative came to me immediately, I knew I had to learn how to pole-dance to bring it to life, and so that’s what I did. thank you Andrew Thomas Huang, for elevating my vision beyond words. you are a visionary. Kelly Yvonne thank you for being with me every step of the way on my precious pole yellow brick road. working with you both on this is a dream come true.

Listen and watch below.

The last time she released a proper single was 2016’s “Good To Love,” and in the time since then she’s lent her talents to some commercials (while also dealing with serious medical issues, having had six fibroid tumors successfully removed from her uterus in December 2018).

In addition to those upcoming NYC shows, she also plays Barcelona’s Primavera Sound and Paris’ We Love Green, and a couple Australian shows. She also just added shows in LA, London, and Berlin, though the venues are still TBA. UPDATE: Venues announced. All dates are listed below.
