FKA twigs wrapped up her North American tour at Kings Theatre (pics, video)

After a five-year gap between albums, FKA twigs returned this year with the stunning Magdalene, in which she continued to prove she’s one of the most forward-thinking voices in the realms of experimental R&B and art pop. As lavish and creative as Magdalene is, her live show, which hit Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre for a second night on Thursday (11/21), is even more thrilling.

Like she’s done on previous tour stops this year, she dedicated several songs to just herself and her vocals, without any backup dancers or distracting lights, which made for an extremely confrontational, eye-catching experience. For other songs, she incorporated modern dance and dramatic, theatrical choreography into her live show, which also included pole dancing during the awe-inspiring “Lights On.” As usual, twigs’ maximalist sense of fashion was also on display, as she danced through newer tracks like “Holy Terrain” and “Sad Day” with various extravagant outfits.
