Flaming Lips reveal cover of “Sad and Beautiful World” from upcoming Sparklehorse tribute LP (listen)

A group of bands have teamed up to honor the late Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse by recording a tribute album, Last Box of Sparklers, which they’re currently raising money for on Indiegogo. Those involved include The Flaming Lips, Phantogram, Mark Lanegan, David Lowery (of Camper Van Beethoven), Mercury Rev, Califone, Margot and the Nuclear So-And-So’s, The Joy Formidable, Jason Lytle (of Grandaddy), Portgual. The Man and more. The Flaming Lips have just revealed their cover of “Sad and Beautiful World,” which you can hear (via Pitchfork), along with the full list of contributors and the Indiegogo campaign video, below.
