Flock of Dimes celebrated her new album at Rough Trade with (Katie) Harkin (pics)
Throughout the night front lady Jenn Wasner would take a moment to thank the crowd for coming out and just appreciate how cool it all was. There were also moments of introspection and what inspired the songs, such as “Flight” being based on one of Wasner’s worst decisions in her life. These musings gave the already intimate space a more personal feeling that is already changing the way the album sounds the more we listen to it. The appreciation went both ways between crowd and performer, as the crowd seemed more and more drawn in as the show went on. [Baeble]
Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner brought her solo tour as Flock of Dimes to NYC this week. She hit Rough Trade on November 2 and played a setlist full of songs from her debut album If You See Me, Say Yes, which came out back in September. The show was opened by Harkin, the new-ish solo project of Katie Harkin, who’s in Sky Larkin and also a live member of the reunited Sleater-Kinney. We’ve got pictures of the show in the gallery above.
