The Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk had its grand opening this past July 4th holiday weekend with shows from The Impractical Jokers (7/1), Peter Gabriel & Sting (7/3), and The Beach Boys (7/4) though, for the last one, most people seemed to be more excited about special guest John Stamos than Mike Love and Bruce Johnston. The new venue also unveiled its new corporate sponsored name. Yes, it’s now officially known as the Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk, which as far as venues names after corporations go, we have to admit isn’t so bad. I mean anything beats the KFC Yum! Center.
The Amphitheater’s debut season includes shows from Maxwell, Culture Club, Jane’s Addiction & Dinosaur Jr, Dresden Dolls, The Art of Rap Festival with Public Enemy, Ice-T and more, Deftones & Refused, Willie Nelson & Family, Phil Lesh & Friends, the Seaside Concert Series and more.
