Thomas Cohen

former S.C.U.M. frontman Thomas Cohen releasing solo debut (listen to "Hazy Shades")

Some of you may remember melodramatic, gothy UK band S.C.U.M. whose five year existence came to a close in 2013. Tragedy followed shorty after that as frontman Thomas Cohen‘s wife, Peaches Geldof, died in 2014. Through all that he was writing songs, finding inspiration in singer-songwriters like Townes Van Zandt, Judee Sill, Van Morrison and Jim Sullivan. Cohen is set to release his debut album, Bloom Forever, on May 6 via Stolen Recordings. It’s a totally different direction for him, though his flair for the dramatic is still evident. (Some of it is not that far from Rufus Wainwright.) New single “Hazy Shades” could’ve fit in on ’70s AM radio with it’s countrified take on sunshine pop. The song makes its premiere in this post and you can listen below.

Thomas Cohen has a few UK dates coming up, including the 2016 Great Escape Festival in Brighton. All dates are listed, along with album artwork/tracklist and a video for “Bloom Forever,” below.
