Franz Ferdinand drummer injured by falling art, being replaced on tour
Franz Ferdinand are doing some touring in Europe and the UK this summer, but they’ll be without longtime drummer Paul Thompson. According to the band, he was injured when his finger was “crushed by an ugly piece of art” in a hotel lobby in Casablanco, Morocco, resulting in his bone being “splintered into small pieces.” He’ll be replaced at the band’s upcoming shows by Mike Evans.
We’re sad to say that Paul’s finger was crushed by an ugly piece of art which fell from the wall of a hotel lobby in Casablanca. The bone has splintered into small pieces and he is unable to hold a drumstick without experiencing intense pain.

Paul will be unable to continue this tour while it heals.
We are happy to welcome our friend Mike Evans who will stand in for him temporarily.
