free 2016 Betsy Head Park SummerStage shows (Public Enemy, Duck Down BBQ & more)

Last month, SummerStage announced its 2016 lineup of free concerts happening in city parks all over the five boroughs, including Central Park, Red Hook Park, Betsy Head Park, Crotona Park, East River Park, and more. Here’s what’s going on at Betsy Head Park (located at Dumont Ave & Strauss St).

The first one is one of the biggest highlights of this year’s SummerStage lineup: a hometown show with hip hop legends Public Enemy. That’s on June 21 and has DJ Tedsmooth on board too.

Following that is the annual Duck Down BBQ on June 23. Stay tuned for this year’s lineup, and read a review of the 2014 Duck Down BBQ.

Then on June 24 there’s a spoken word event presented by Nuyorican Poets Cafe featuring founder of Women Writers of Color Reading Room Mahogany Browne and Grammy-nominated lyricst/Tony-Award nominated playwright reg e gaine.

The Brooklyn Dance Festival is also happening as part of Summerstage, hosted by Shernita Anderson, featuring Broadway dancer Dormeshia Sumbry Edwards, dancers from the Dwana Smallwood Dance School, The Bang Group and more.
