‘Films in Tompkins’ 2012 schedule (free movies & music in NYC’s Tompkins Square Park)

Rooftop Films and Summerscreen aren’t your only sources for outdoor cinematic entertainment paired with live music in NYC this summer. The free Films in Tompkins series will be showing classic films with live music every Thursday through August 16. The series kicks off tonight, June 28, with Martin Scorsese’s lurid, visceral 1976 masterpiece, Taxi Driver, which if you’ve never seen you really need to and if you have, it’s worth seeing again. Tonight’s live performance is soul act Mr. Reed.

Gates open at 6PM and the movies start at sundown. Full ‘Films in Tompkins’ schedule is below:

Aug. 2 – Donnie Darko w/ The Rad Trads (+ free pizza from Two Boots)
Aug. 9 – The Big Lebowski w/ Main Squeeze Orchestra (+ free pizza from Two Boots)
Aug. 16 – Poltergeist w/ Timbila
