free NYC ‘We Are the Best’ screening this Friday (which will get you into Upset’s show at DbA for free too)

Poster

The Upset / Aye Nako / Palehound show at Death by Audio on Friday (4/9) is actually doubling as an afterparty for a screening of We Are the Best, the acclaimed new movie from director Lukas Moodyson about a teenage girl punk band in early-’80s Sweden. The screening happens around the corner at IndieScreen at 7 PM on Friday. The screening is free and if you go to it, you get a free pass for the DbA show. Not a bad Friday night. You must RSVP though and admittance is first come, first served. You can also buy advance tickets ($5) to the DbA show.

Upset also play Saturday (5/10) at Baby’s All Right with Worriers (tickets). If you can’t go to Friday’s free screening, We Are the Best screens tonight (5/7, 7:30 PM) at BAM’s Rose Cinmemas with a post-screening Q&A with Moodysson. It’s the kickoff to BAM’s “Punk Rock Girls” series and tickets are still available. We Are the Best begins a limited North American release on May 30.
