South Street Seaport will be full of music on the Fourth of July, as they’ll host the free Festival of Independence offering a wide variety of performers across three stages. Acts include singer-songwriter Freedy Johnston and indie rock band Elk City (featuring Luna’s Sean Eden) on the Fulton Street Stage; Prince Rama and Salt Cathedral on the indoor Fulton Stall Market Stage; and over at the Peck Slip Stage there’s Dolly Parton cover band Doll Parts and other twangy acts. The Seaport is also a good place to watch the fireworks. Full lineup and schedule below.

UPDATE: Elk City have unfortunately dropped off the bill.

Speaking of the Fulton Stall Market, the permanent indoor space is also host to Little Water Radio which broadcasts live every day from noon – 6 PM. There are shows from Northern Spy and Paper Garden records, and a host of other DJs (including this writer; my show “Past Future Perfect” is on Saturdays 2-4 PM Eastern). The space just opened the Market Bar which serves beer and wine. Little Water Radio is planning more live shows on Fulton Stall Market’s stage this summer. Stay tuned.
