Frog Eyes

Frog Eyes breaking up after new album & tour w/ Hello Blue Roses (stream a track)

Long-running Canadian indie rock band Frog Eyes have announced Violet Psalms, the followup to 2015’s Pickpocket’s Locket, and sadly this album will be their last, Pitchfork reports. They’re also going on a farewell tour this spring/summer, and they’ll be calling it quits after that. We’ll miss you, Frog Eyes.

The new album will be out on May 18 via Paper Bag Records, and the lead single is “Idea Man,” which sounds like classic Frog Eyes. “We were trying to pretend it was our first record, when there’s no expectation that anyone will actually listen,” main member Carey Mercer said. Listen below.

The tour includes dates with Dan Bejar and Sydney Hermant’s Hello Blue Roses, Zachary Cale, and The Skygreen Leopards, and there’s a Brooklyn show on July 7 at Elsewhere Zone One with both Hello Blue Roses and Zachary Cale. Tickets for that show will be on sale soon. All dates are listed below.

In 2013, Carey Mercer was sadly diagnosed with throat cancer. Hopefully he’s doing as well as possible.
