Fujiya & Miyagi's new song inspired by TV show 'Columbo' (listen); tour starts soon

Fujiya & Miyagi‘s Transparent Things 10th anniversary tour starts next week and ahead of that, we’re premiering a brand new song, “Subliminal Cuts,” a bit of funky kraut-disco that has an interesting lyrical inspiration — an episode of classic detective show, Columbo. Say the band:

Subliminal Cuts is inspired by a Columbo episode called “Double Exposure” from 1973. The murderer splices frames into a film which pushes his victim into a vulnerable situation which proves to be his undoing. At a stretch you could point to parallels to how social media manipulates its users. In essence, though, it’s just a disco song about a tv programme.

Listen below.

The Transparent Things tour hits NYC for a show at Elsewhere Zone One on March 31 with Annie Hart opening (tickets).
