Fun Fun Fun Fest 2014 begins (Freddie Gibbs included), Residual Kid signed to Sire, IO presents Pallbearer

FFF Fest

Our favorite annual Austin music festival Fun Fun Fun Fest begins tonight/Thursday at various venues around Austin and continues for three days straight at Auditorium Shores, and each night at more local venues. The latter category is the ‘Nites’ when many bands play a 2nd FFF-affiliated show while in town for the fest.

BrooklynVegan is proud to present one of the Nites, and that is Dinosaur Jr., Meat Puppets and Cass McCombs at ACL Live Saturday night.

Our metal blog Invisible Oranges presents Pallbearer, local rippers Eagle Claw, Pallbearer’s blackened tourmates Vattnet Viskar and JR Robinson’s metal collective Wrekmeister Harmonies at Elysium Saturday night.

Locals Residual Kid, who were just in NYC for CMJ, open for the Blood Brothers at one of the Nite shows, and now count Sire/Warner as their label home.

The Blood Brothers are one of the many bands featured in our ‘emo revival guide to Fun Fun Fun‘.

Freddie Gibbs, despite being involved in a shooting in NYC, will be performing at Fun Fun Fun with Madlib.

Death Grips will not.
