G Perico All Blue

G Perico released 'All Blue,' playing NYC with Cuz Lightyear & others

South Central LA rapper G Perico picked up a little buzz last year with the Shit Don’t Stop mixtape and really started taking off with this year’s Crips-referencing All Blue album. Released on Priority Records, which famously distributed Eazy-E’s Ruthless Records during NWA’s reign, All Blue is firmly rooted in the type of West Coast rap that Ruthless helped pioneer. Over breezy G-Funk, Perico spits with the same kind of fire his hometown heroes had back in the day, with a slightly modern twist. The songs sound built to soundtrack backyard BBQs and long drives in LA’s summer heat, and Perico’s words (and the album’s several videos) tell stories of life in LA through keen eyes. If you haven’t heard the album or watched its videos yet, you can check that all out below.

Perico will be in NYC for a show on Monday (7/17) at the Studio at Webster Hall with fellow West Coasters SOB x RBE. The bill also includes Sacramento-via-Alabama rapper OMB Peezy and Killer Mike associate Cuz Lightyear (fka SL Jones) (tickets). It appears to be G Perico’s only upcoming date at the moment. Videos by all artists on the show can be found below.

In related West Coast rap news, Jay 305 (who’s on G Perico’s 2016 song “South Central”) just released his debut album for Interscope, Taking All Bets, which has guest spots by YG, Omarion, Dom Kennedy, Travis Scott, and more. You can stream that below too.
