'Game of Thrones' reveals Season 7 premiere date & teaser

Game of thones
Exciting!

Game of Thrones is gearing up for Season 7. The first tease comes today, via a new poster that is ice, fire and little else. (The series is based on George RR Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” book series.) Check that out below. That is in part to promote the Game of Thrones panel that happens at SXSW on Sunday (3/12) with showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with show stars Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) and Maisie Williams (Arya Stark).

As for when Season 7 will actually premiere, HBO just  hosted an interactive “game” via Facebook Live where a giant block of ice had the premiere date embedded in it. By typing “FIRE” and other hashtags into the comments, it supposedly turned up flames aimed at the ice block which help melt it. (No, really.) Someone wrote in the Facebook comments “What do we need to type in to get [‘Ice & Fire’ series creator] George RR Martin to finish Winds of Winter?” The series is now fully ahead of GRRM’s books (The Winds of Winter is coming up on two years late). For people who had better things to do, Season 7 premiers July 16 on HBO. Watch a teaser video below.

In other news, the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience rolled through NYC on Tuesday — anybody go to that? A few Instagrams from that below.
