Game of Thrones' "The Long Night" was even more thrilling thanks to Ramin Djawadi's score (listen)

SPOILER ALERT: There are plot points to Game Of Thrones Season 8, Episode 3 (“The Long Night”) here so if you haven’t see it yet…you know the drill, but we don’t go deep into the plot of the episode.

We’re in the middle of the final season of Game of Thrones and the third episode, “The Long Night,” was the highly anticipated showdown between the humans holed up at Winterfell and The Night King’s army of the dead. It was thrilling television, even if you wished it wasn’t so damn dark all the time and wondered at the end what the purpose of it all was. The climax of the episode was a montage of nearly every major character on the show literally battling for their lives, with many tragic moments and at least one big “yes!” It was made all the more powerful by a sweeping, stirring new piece of music from series composer Ramin Djawadi titled “The Night King” that worked by going quiet till it really needed to go big. They’ve shared that piece of music — listen below.

There’s only three episodes of Game of Thrones left. The second episode of the final season featured Florence + The Machine.
