Gang of Four prep new LP, touring, celebrating 40 years of 'Entertainment!'

Post-punk vets Gang of Four, of which guitarist Andy Gill is the only original member in the lineup these days, are getting ready to release new album, Happy Now, which will be out march 29. Details are scant, but you can preorder via Pledgemusic.

Meanwhile, Gang of Four will be touring in 2019, going coast to coast, starting on the West Coast in February and making their way East. Dates include stops in San Diego, L.A., San Francisco, Denver, NYC, the Boston area, Philly and more. They’ll play Asbury Park’s Asbury Lanes on February 23 and Brooklyn’s Rough Trade on February 25. Tickets for those two shows go on sale Friday, December 7 at noon, with AmEx presales starting Wednesday (12/5).

It should be noted that 2019 marks the 40th anniversary of Gang of Four’s landmark debut album, Entertainment!, a record that has inspired so much alt/indie over the last four decades and continues to be influential. On Gang of Four’s Facebook there are pictures of “Entertainment! 40th Anniversary Tour” but it hasn’t been announced if these North American dates are part of that. Stay tuned.
