Last year, the legendary Parliament-Funkadelic leader George Clinton contributed to a song by WOKE, a supergroup featuring Flying Lotus, Thundercat and Shabazz Palaces (following working with FlyLo and Thundercat on “Wesley’s Theory” off Kendrick’s TPAB). Now he’s signed to FlyLo’s Brainfeeder label, and will release a new album “next year, hopefully.” George Clinton revealed the news in an interview with KCRW, where he also recorded a performance with Thundercat on bass. Listen to the interview and the music HERE.

George Clinton, Flying Lotus, Thundercat and Shabazz Palaces all play the Gold Stage of Brooklyn’s Afropunk Festival on Saturday (8/27). Let’s hope this means some collaboration will happen. Kendrick Lamar won’t be there because he plays LA’s FYF Fest the same day. After Afropunk, those same four artists (plus The Gaslamp Killer) play three Brainfeeder showcases in California. All dates are listed below.

Thundercat also just released his own new song, “Bus In These Streets,” which you can stream:
