glass beach sign to Run For Cover, giving debut LP a vinyl release, share new video
“very likely my favourite album of the year” – Los Campesinos!
LA’s glass beach digitally self-released debut album the first glass beach album earlier this year, and it’s been picking up buzz this year in the corners of the internet that care about DIY emo and indie rock. (As you can see above, Los Campesinos!, who seem like they might be an influence on glass beach, are big fans.) Now they’ve signed to Run For Cover who will give the album its first vinyl release on January 24, 2020 (pre-order).
It’s not hard to see why this album has been catching on — it’s super lo-fi but it’s bursting with stadium-sized ambition, and it fuses together so many different kinds of music, from driving emo-punk to theatrical piano ballads to spastic glitch pop and plenty of the in-between. If you put Say Anything’s Is A Real Boy, Sufjan’s Age of Adz, and Fiery Furnaces’ Blueberry Boat in a blender, it might sound something like this.
Along with the RFC signing news, glass beach released a video for album opener “classic j dies and goes to hell part 1.” You can watch that and stream the whole album below…
