Glasslands is taking down the clouds installation -- last night was its final night

Clouds

One of the most iconic backdrops in the NYC music scene has left the building: Glasslands’ clouds. The venue just posted this on Facebook:

well folks, after a few long happy years, the time has come for the glasslands clouds to float off into the sunset. kyp malone’s group Rain Machine will have been the last to perform under them last night, and that seems right.

we used to rotate these art installations regularly before the clouds, and always intended to continue doing so, but we had no idea how warmly (and strongly) you all would feel about the clouds, and so i guess over time it just stuck.

but now it’s spring again people, and it’s time for change. we’re hard at work on a new installation that we hope you’ll like.

thanks again to vashti windish who designed and created the clouds, with some help from our awesome staff.

more to come on this new setting soon!

Nooooooo! (On the plus side, Glasslands does have new bathrooms.) We’ll miss the clouds, but look forward to seeing what replaces them.
