Glenn Hughes

Glenn Hughes playing Deep Purple classics on 2018 tour

Glenn Hughes, who was bassist and co-frontman of Deep Purple on 1974’s Burn and Stormbringer and 1975’s Come Taste the Band (along with David Coverdale, who later formed Whitesnake), is doing an international tour of Deep Purple classics all year, with stops in South America, North America, Europe, and the UK.

It seems like Glenn has a full US tour announcement coming, but meanwhile some US dates have already been revealed, including tristate area shows at Connecticut’s Space Ballroom on August 26 (tickets), Asbury Park’s Stone Pony on August 28 (tickets), and Westchester’s Tarrytown Music Hall on September 22 (tickets). The CT and NJ shows go on sale Friday (4/6) at 10 AM and there are presales for the NJ show; the Tarrytown show is on sale now. All known dates are listed below.

Burn is one of Deep Purple’s best and most classic albums, thanks in no small part to Glenn Hughes’ soaring voice, which clearly helped influence heavy metal. In case you’re wondering if Hughes (who also sang in Trapeze with future Judas Priest drummer Dave Holland, and briefly sang for Black Sabbath in the ’80s) has still got it, just watch this amazing pro-shot 2011 performance of “Burn”:
