Glenn Tipton rejoined Judas Priest in NJ; Faulkner called it a "goosebump moment"

In February, Judas Priest sadly had to announce that longtime guitarist Glenn Tipton was forced to retire from touring due to Parkinson’s, and that they would be going on tour without him. So it was a very pleasant surprise when Glenn showed up to join them on stage during their encore at last night’s (3/20) Newark show at Prudential Center! Glenn played “Metal Gods,” “Breaking the Law,” and “Living After Midnight” with them. Watch a video and see the full setlist below. The band also broke out their cover of Fleetwood Mac’s proto-metal classic “The Green Manalishi” for the first time since 2012 last night. Video of that is below too.

As Blabbermouth points out, frontman Rob Halford and current Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner were interviewed today by Jonathan Clarke for Q104.3’s “Out Of The Box” and Faulkner talked about playing with Glenn Tipton again. He said, “We always said that, obviously, due to Glenn’s situation, he will be stepping down slightly from touring, but he will be back at some stage. And in true Glenn Tipton hero form, there he was at the Prudential in front of all the metal maniacs, and they went absolutely ballistic. I mean, you can imagine — it was like a goosebump moment; it was phenomenal. And we went straight into ‘Metal Gods’, which is pretty fitting. It was a ‘metal god’ right there, and it’s just a testament to how much of a hero Glenn Tipton is.” Rob Halford added that his bandmate’s playing is “remarkable” and that “the Glenn Tipton way of playing guitar is very special and very unique.” Video of the interview is below.

The Newark show was the second of two NYC-area shows for Judas Priest, who also played Nassau Coliseum on Saturday (3/17). Pictures from the Nassau Coliseum show are in the gallery above and HERE.
