Gojira and Opeth announce tour dates

Gojira at Terminal 5
Gojira at Terminal 5 in October (more by Greg Cristman)

We already mentioned that French death metal beasts Gojira and Swedish prog-metal institution Opeth had a show together coming up, and now they’ve announced a full-blown co-headlining tour for 2017.

They’ll be in the NYC area as part of that, hitting the Starland Ballroom on May 7. Tickets for that go on AmEx presale Wednesday (12/7) at 10 AM and on sale to the general public Friday (12/9) at 10 AM.

The tour also includes a stop at the recently-announced Carolina Rebellion Fest, which is by the same people doing Rock on the Range and Welcome to Rockville, both of which Gojira also play. It’s a similar lineup to those other festivals, with A Perfect Circle, Soundgarden, Mastodon, Dillinger Escape Plan, Amon Amarth and more. That goes down May 5-7 in Charlotte, NC and Tickets are on sale now.

Opeth and Gojira both released new albums this year (Sorceress and Magma respectively). Gojira were also just nominated for a Grammy.

Stream those two albums, check out the full lineup for Carolina Rebellion, and check out tour dates below.
