Gorillaz share “Desole” ft. Fatoumata Diawara
The second edition of Gorillaz’s “Song Machine” series is the breezy “Désolé” (French for “Sorry”) featuring Malian star Fatoumata Diawara. Says Gorillaz’s animated drummer Russel, “Making ‘Désolé’ with Fatou was a real moment for me, you know. She’s an African Queen. This lady made the song what it is, beautiful, like life. What can I say about Désolé? They say sorry is the hardest word, but that’s not true… Try saying antidisestablishmentarianism with a mouth full of gluten free cronuts on a speed boat without licking your lips.”
The song is sung in three language — English, French and Bambara — and the video features the Gorillaz crew along with Diawara and string-puller Damon Albarn tooling around Northern Italy’s picturesque Lake Como. Gorillaz have it pretty nice.
