Green Day announce new album 'Revolution Radio,' share "BANG BANG"

It’s already been a great year for pop punk, and now a new Green Day album has been announced. Granted, Green Day haven’t made a great album in quite some time, but lead single “BANG BANG” is actually sounding pretty good, and definitely offering up a big dose of ~nostalgia~ for fans of the band’s ’90s era. The album’s called Revolution Radio, and it’ll be out on October 7 via Reprise. It’s the band’s first self-produced album since 2000’s Warning. Here’s what Billie Joe Armstrong told Rolling Stone about the new song:

It’s about the culture of mass shooting that happens in America mixed with narcissistic social media. There’s this sort of rage happening, but it’s also now being filmed and we all have ourselves under surveillance. To me, that is so twisted. To get into the brain of someone like that was freaky. It freaked me out. After I wrote it, all I wanted to do was get that out of my brain because it just freaked me out.
