Gucci Mane

Gucci Mane to write book, star in new Harmony Korine film

Since getting out of prison earlier this year, Gucci Mane seems to be thriving. He’s got a new healthy lifestyle, a new look, a new clothing line (“somewhere between Supreme and Vetements”), and he has a new album, Woptober, coming out October 17. After a few months on house arrest he’s a fully free man, and he’s continuing the grind of productivity. For one, in an interview with GQ, Gucci announced that he’s signed a book deal with Simon & Schuster where he’ll tell his whole story.

A spokesperson for Simon & Schuster told The Fader:

“Simon & Schuster is thrilled to publish Gucci’s story in his own words,” the spokesperson for Simon & Schuster told The Fader. “Gucci Mane is one of the most influential and revered hip hop artists in the world. His impact on American music is profound. This will be a major memoir revealing the life and times of the artist and man, chronicling his youth, ascent to the top of the Atlanta trap scene, incarceration, struggles with addiction and personal rebirth.”

There are few other details about the book available yet.

That’s not all, though. Gucci will be appearing in another film by close friend and director Harmony Korine, for whom Gucci starred in Spring Breakers. It’ll be called The Trap and will also star Benico del Toro, Al Pacino, and James Franco.
