Guns N Roses played Philly, then detained at Canadian border for gun

Guns ‘n’ Roses tour rolls on, as the band played at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday, July 14 (with Wolfmother opening) before heading up to Canada …where they ran into some problems at the border. More on that below. The Philly show was heavy on covers and even found time for some Chinese Democracy jams like the title track and “Sorry.” They covered The Who, their hit cover of “Live & Let Die,” and The Damned, along with the love theme from The Godfather and a bunch of other stuff hitting classics like “Welcome to the Jungle,” “Sweet Child o’ Mine” and “Paradise City” along the way.

As mentioned above, they apparently ran into some trouble on the way to their Toronto show on 7/16, as Axl told an amusing story about being detained at the border because someone in their party had a gun. “Shit happens…you can forget that you have a fucking gun,” he told the Toronto crowd that night (they didn’t miss the show), a very Axl Rose thing to say. “Wasn’t my gun,” he added and a GN’R rep told Billboard the gun didn’t belong to any of the band members.
