GWAR at Irving Plaza

GWAR made a bloody mess on Halloween at Irving Plaza with Ghoul & Doyle (pics)

Though the GWAR tour was hit with some tragedy when longtime member BälSäc the Jaws ‘o Death (aka Michael Derks) was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer and tourmate Doyle had to get eye surgery on tour, it trekked on and landed in NYC on Halloween night at Irving Plaza. It was the perfect bill for Halloween, with GWAR, who would’ve beheaded characters on stage and sprayed the crowd with fake blood even if it wasn’t Halloween, and Doyle, whose band the Misfits wrote one of the most iconic Halloween songs in punk. Not to mention the tour also has masked band Ghoul. (And this show was also opened by U.S. Bastards.) Check out pictures of the madness in the gallery above, and watch some videos (including a tribute to their late frontman Dave Brockie) and see GWAR’s setlist (including their cover of AC/DC’s “If You Want Blood [You’ve Got it]”) below.
