Habibi at Fullton Stall Market 8/05/2012
Brooklyn’s Habibi kicked off the 2012 Sound Bites Series down at Fullton Stall Markets on Sunday afternoon (8/5). This is the third year I’ve booked this little concert series and the third stage location we’ve done it. The stage is now set up on Beekman street sidewalk just off South St which is probably the best place we’ve had it, as it didn’t conflict with the folks trying to get to the different farm stands but was still basically right there with the market. (It also will allow bands to play a little longer/louder than last year.) Habibi, who are currently putting the finishing touches on their debut LP, sounded great if I do say so, despite some humidity-induced fret problems that guitarist Caroline worked around with good humor.
Habibi will open for Chain & the Gang and Calvin Johnson at 285 Kent on Thursday (8/9) and next month will be on a tour with Vetiver which includes a show at Glasslands on September 21.
The Sound Bites Series happens every Sunday afternoon in August. This Sunday (8/12) is Eternal Summers.
