Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

'Harry Potter and The Cursed Child' to open on Broadway in April of 2018

The London production of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child has been wildly popular and award-winning. It picks up the Harry Potter story nineteen years after it left off in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, depicting Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco as adults, and introducing their children. Potter fans who couldn’t get tickets or couldn’t get to London, or both, have had to content themselves with reading the rehearsal script, written by Jack Thorne and based on an original story by Potter author JK Rowling, Thorne, and John Tiffany. Now more people will have a chance to see the play, as it’s making its way over to the USA to open on Broadway on April 22, 2018.

Cursed Child will run in two parts, to be viewed either in a marathon day or on consecutive days, like the London production, at Broadway’s Lyric Theatre. According to the NY Times, the Lyric, having just hosted Cirque du Soleil’s “Paramour,” will “undergo a dramatic overhaul, shedding one-fifth of its seats to create a more intimate space for a nonmusical play.” Further details, including information about casting and preview performances, are still to come.

Tickets will go on sale this fall, exact date and time TBA.
