Earlier this year, it was announced that Sufjan Stevens would be composing original songs for director Luca Guadagnino’s film Call Me By Your Name. The film, which was a breakout hit at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, stars Armie Hammer and Timothee Chalamet, and is based on the acclaimed novel of the same name by Andre Aciman. The film will be out in November,  the first trailer just dropped, and it does indeed feature a new Sufjan track, “Mystery of Love.” The song’s banjo-laden musical direction, which calls back to Sufjan’s Seven Swans and Carrie and Lowell eras, isn’t breaking any new ground, but it’s a sound that is very much welcome. Watch the trailer, which features the new track about halfway through, below.

Sufjan Stevens, in promotion of the ambitious Planetarium project, recently played Prospect Park for the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, alongside collaborators Bryce Dessner, Nico Muhly, and James McAlister. This show included a cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” during the encore, which you can view below.
