Heat cover Psychedelic Furs' "Pretty in Pink" (listen), touring around SXSW
Montreal band Heat released their debut album early this year, full of Strokes-y, short, sharp rock. If you haven’t checked it out you can stream it below. The band have just released a cover of Psychedelic Furs’ classic “Pretty in Pink.” Says frontman Susil Sharma:
This is my go to karaoke jam and I basically just had fun with it, doing a Richard Butler impression on my laptop in my apartment. The neighbours are probably very annoyed/disturbed about the man in apartment 8 who won’t stop singing Psychedelic Furs songs at all hours of the night. I’ve actually never seen the movie, which is kind of weird cause I really love John Hughes. Think I’ve seen Breakfast Club at least 30 times.
While Heat’s cover veers closer to the slick version used in the movie (as opposed to the rougher original), they thankfully leave out the sax. That cover premieres in this post. Listen below.
Heat are packing up to hit the road to SXSW. On the way they’ll be stopping in NYC to play Mercury Lounge on Thursday, March 9 with Infinity Girl and Navy Gangs (tickets). All tour dates are listed below.
