Hess is More‘s last show at Mercury Lounge was to happen on Halloween but got canceled due to the Lower East Side having no power in Hurricane Sandy’s wake. He got thrown on, last minute, to the Big Freedia show at Brooklyn Bowl but now has another Merc show scheduled, a late show on December 13. Tickets are on AmEx presale today at noon and the regular on-sale is Friday (11/23) at noon. It’s their official last show of 2012 with nothing else on the horizon as of now.

If you’ve only heard Hess is More on record — like last year’s underrated Creation Keeps the Devil Away — you’re missing out. Mikkel Hess is a multiinstrumentalist extraordinaire and he and his crackerjack band make for a thumping, Krautrocky danceparty, especially when Hess sits down behind the second kit. I was a bit knocked out when I saw them open for Fujiya & Miyagi at Glasslands back in August. Definitely worth checking out.

The band’s most recent NYC show was playing the Shoplifter’s 2012 Nervescape installation at the Clocktower Gallery on November 8 and you can stream Hess is More’s performance at Clocktower Radio. Meanwhile Hess just released a brand new track, “Wheel of Fortune,” a funky slow-burner that you can download above or stream below.

Also below is a stream of Hess is More’s remix album, which put songs from Creation Keeps the Devil Away into some very capable hands.
