High Dive on tour w/ Bernays Propaganda & Nana Grizol, playing Death by Audio w/ Mikey Erg tonight (dates, streams)

High Dive, the queer-positive band from Bloomington, Indiana, make what you would probably call pop punk but more in the raw, scrappy sense of a band like The Thermals than “Defend Pop Punk” or any of the massive radio bands of the ’90s/’00s. They bring in sax, trumpet, and a Fender Rhodes, and singer Toby Foster has an anti-folk/folk punk quality to his nasally voice. They’re currently on a US tour with Macedonian dance-punks Bernays Propaganda (who sing in their native language) and the many-membered folk pop collective Nana Grizol which has likely been making for some very varied yet very interesting bills.

The tour hits NYC TONIGHT (5/19) at Death by Audio for a bill that also throws Mikey Erg, one of punk’s busiest musicians, into the mix. Tonight’s show is $7 at the door.
