Hollie Cook at Elsewhere

Hollie Cook delighted at Elsewhere (pics, setlist)

It was the fourth day of spring but winter was still clinging to Brooklyn.  On Friday (3/23), Sludgy snow was still piled up from the Nor’Easter that hit earlier in the week, with temperatures hovered abound 40, but inside Elsewhere it was all sweetness and light, as Hollie Cook took the stage. (It was the first date of her short tour.) Fresh off the release of her delightful third album, Vessel of Love, Hollie was all smiles, chatty with the crowd, and delivered a set that cherry-picked the best offerings from her whole catalog. In addition to her own songs, like “99,” “Angel Fire,” “Shadow Kissing,” “Stay Alive,” and “Postman,” she also played her cover of The Carpenters’ “Superstar” which was released as a Record Store Day single last year. Live horns (or the swoony strings all over 2014’s Twice) would’ve been nice but Hollie’s honeyed voice and personality was enough to charm the crowd.

Pictures from the whole night (including openers The Far East) are in the gallery above and Hollie’s setlist is below.
