Holy Ghost!’s Alex Frankel opened a Jewish deli in Greenpoint with El-P and Despot

The brothers Zach and Alex Frankel were reared on the Upper West Side of Manhattan but live in Brooklyn now and missed the local smoked fish emporiums of their childhood. So they are doing something about it: opening on Saturday on the border between Williamsburg and Greenpoint their own version of the appetizing shops they love. As mentioned in the NY Times quote above, a new Jewish deli at 631 Manhattan Ave had its grand opening today, and co-owner Alex Frankel is in fact the same Alex Frankel who sings in Holy Ghost!. That’s not the only musical connection Frankel’s has: El-P and his collaborator Despot are both investors too. Here’s some of what El and Despot posted on social media as the place opened:
