Hot Chip share “Need You Now” video from new LP
by Bill Pearis
Hot Chip’s new single from their forthcoming sixth album, Why Make Sense, is “Need You Now” which is a very solid house number with a hook sampled from the 1983 Sinnaman single “I Need You Now.” For the song’s video, the band turned to Shynola who are responsible for some memorable videos of the ’00s, like Radiohead’s “Pyramid Song,” The Rapture’a “House of Jealous Lovers” and Junior Senior’s “Move Your Feet“… the latter of which probably got them the job doing The IT Crowd‘s opening credits. For “Need You Now,” they use subtle special effects to tell the story of a man (Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor) whose life seems to be in a constant loop. Literally. You can watch it below.
Hot Chip’s Why Make Sense is out May 19 via Domino and, thanks to a “bespoke printing technique” every copy of the LP and CD will feature unique artwork. Pre-orders are available, including a deluxe LP version that comes with a bonus EP. Hot Chip will be in NYC next month for Governors Ball.
