Howard Together Alone

Howard releasing 'Together Alone' (watch the "Soul Mourning" video)

Brooklyn’s Howard Feibusch has produced, engineered and mixed for other artists, he’s worked in the music department for TV, and he also records his own music under the moniker Howard. He released his debut album Religion in 2015, and then put together a band to tour behind it — Alex Chakour (guitar, synth, backup vocals), Myles Heffernan (bass), and Chris Holdridge (drums) — and he has now recorded his first album with that band, Together Alone, which is due out September 14 via Fashion People (pre-order). We’re premiering a new song from the album, “Soul Mourning,” along with its video. It’s an atmospheric song with some serious Radiohead vibes, but Howard really makes it his own. The video was directed by Carolin Koss, who says:

The video touches different spheres and aspects of life. Circling around the endless search for yourself, looking back and forward at the same time. Shaped and carved by those who are part of your journey, pieces which make you whole as a being. A constant balancing act of how much of them is you and how much of you is you. Deciding whether to hold on or to let go. Sometimes it seems necessary to leave the old you behind, to turn into a better version of yourself!

Howard adds, “The song is about mourning a part of myself as well as others who’ve passed. I felt like Carolin’s idea really embodied that and made me understand my own song from a new perspective.” Watch/listen below.

Howard are playing a hometown album release show on September 13 at Mercury Lounge with The Misters (tickets). Their only other upcoming date at the moment is in Northampton, MA with Horse Feathers in October.
