'Howard Stern Tribute to David Bowie' features Britt Daniel, Car Seat Headrest, Garbage & more

Spoon’s Britt Daniel, Garbage, Smashing Pumpkins’ William Patrick Corgan, Car Seat Headrest, Sun Kil Moon, Bleachers, Gogol Bordello, Peter Frampton, Lisa Loeb, Todd Rundgren, Dawes, and more are contributing all-new David Bowie covers to a new tribute to the late rock and pop icon that’s being put together for The Howard Stern Show. “When I got into rock & roll music, one of the artists that I first really got into was David Bowie,” says Stern in a statement. “He was always evolving, he was always on top of things, he was just a great musician and a great songwriter and a great singer. I want to make sure that people remember David Bowie.” You can listen to Frampton’s live take on “Rebel Rebel” (via Rolling Stone), Daryl Hall‘s slinky version of “Fame” and Lisa Loeb‘s spare, piano cover of “All the Young Dudes” below.

Elsewhere on the 25-song tribute: Britt Daniel does “Never Let Me Down,” Garbage does “Starman,” Gogol Bordello take on “Rock n Roll Suicide,” Car Seat Headrest cover “Ashes to Ashes,” Sun Kill Moon’s cover of “John, I’m Only Dancing” features Petra Haden of That Dog, and Kristeen Young‘s version of “Moonage Daydream” was co-produced by Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti.

“The Howard Stern Tribute to David Bowie” premieres February 9 on SiriusXM’s Howard 101 channel. Check out the tribute’s full tracklist below.
